Machining of the first engine pylon began during the summer in Saint-Eloi, whilst the facility in Nantes began production of the first A330neo centre wing box.

The centre wing box rib uses innovative isogrid design that features 330 triangular pockets that promote rigidity and strength whilst remaining low in weight.

The pylon is made out of titanium, and uses new aerodynamic technologies that will help Airbus maintain maximum efficiency in the new aircraft.

The 330neo will use new technology to reduce fuel consumption by 14 per cent per seat, making it the most efficient, medium range widebody aircraft on the market.

The 330neo, alongside the 900neo, are the newest members of the widebody family, and it is predicted that deliveries will begin in the last quarter of 2017.
