Airbus starts assembly on new aircraft

Airbus has started the assembly of its first A350-100 with the fuselage as the first component to be built.

Premium Aerotec delivered the fuselage section to Hamburg, where it will be equipped and moved onto Saint-Nazaire.
 
The A350-1000 willl measure 74 metres nose to tail, seating 366 passengers for journeys up to 8,000 nautical miles.
 
Assembly began in August this year, with final assembly starting early next year.
 
There have been 169 firm orders made for the new aircraft, by nine customers.
 
The first deliveries of the new aircraft are scheduled to begin mid-2017.
