A "total care" contract already included engine and component support, as well as maintenance checks for all aircraft of the Libyan fleet.

During the Libyan events of 2011, AFI KLM E&M froze the existing contract without demanding compensation. An attitude that has made the difference as well as satisfaction on the high quality on performance and services offered by the Dutch-French joint-venture, were decisive factors for Afriqiyah to extend the contract, the airline said.
Abdunoor Abuhajar, technical and engineering director of Afriqiyah Airways said: “We are delighted to benefit from the expertise of AFI KLM E&M and to strengthen our cooperation".

AFI KLM E&M’s Fabrice Defrance, senior vice president commercial said: "Afriqiyah Airways is a privileged partner. With this contract they confirm a strong sign of trust in AFI KLM E&M. It strengthens our position in the North African region, which is growing rapidly and where many projects are under way".
