Abu Dhabi Airports has announced that its subsidiary company Abu Dhabi Duty Free has launched its commercial process to attract global bidders to move into the eagerly-awaited new airport.

Retailers, food and beverage operators, and leading brands from all around the world are being invited to submit bids for commercial opportunities for the MTB which is due to open in July 2017. The process offers commercial partners the challenge of providing a sensational experience for travellers who are increasingly making the UAE an ever-more important destination.

Encased within a spectacular design, a total of 28,000 square meters of space will be available, comprising of 18,000 square meters of retail and 10,000 square meters for food and beverage outlets.

As a completely new commercial development, bidders will have the opportunity to build and brand their chosen space from a blank canvas, rather than work under the constraints of an existing outlet. The commercial space offered represents a rare opportunity to outlets, as it will expose them to the 30+ million passengers who are forecasted to pass through the Midfield Terminal Complex in a few years time.

As part of its commitment to forge exceptional partnerships, Abu Dhabi Duty Free will allow successful bidders from the retail and food and beverage sectors to work with international consultants to optimize allocated space and cater it to their own bespoke designs.

The overall objective is for the MTB to be the most modern, attractive and innovative airport terminal in the world, while offering passengers an abundance of choice and a memorable travel experience.

This in turn will help further promote Abu Dhabi as a global transport hub, persuading passengers to make it their preferred destination or transit route. The opportunity for successful bidders – whether high-end luxury brands or those providing every-day essentials – is to become an essential ingredient in what will become an iconic landmark.

Mohammed Al Bulooki, chief commercial officer of Abu Dhabi Airports said: “Abu Dhabi Airports is calling on ambitious, innovative retailers, food and beverage operators, as well as leading brands from all over the world to participate in this commercial process. Few opportunities like this exist to take advantage of such a unique and extensive commercial space, whose size and footfall make it so compelling. Abu Dhabi Airports looks forward to working with such partners to make Abu Dhabi’s Midfield Terminal Building a jewel in the crown in the UAE’s transport infrastructure.”
