Students from various schools, colleges and universities in the UAE will participate in the comprehensive training programme which begins later this month. The Summer Training Programme aims at promoting awareness amongst Emirati youth about aviation, supporting the growing need for human capital within the industry to develop the future aviation leaders for the region.

The programme will begin with an orientation session held at Abu Dhabi Airports’ Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS) to understand the theory behind operations of an airport, before moving on to practical learning sessions being held over a period of four weeks. A wide range of programmes will be run by experienced staff members from a range of departments including customer service, cargo, planning and development, and marketing to name a few.

H.E. Ali Majed Al Mansoori (right), chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: "Abu Dhabi Airports strives to educate and encourage students, as part of its corporate and social responsibility to give back to the community. The summer training programme aims at integrating the younger generation into a key part of developing the nation’s infrastructure, enabling them to become active within the community and to benefit from practical, real-world experience during the summer months."

Dr Othman Al Khoori, chief human resources officer added: "These special programmes and activities for students will strengthen Abu Dhabi Airports’ image as a potential employer of choice and will allow the students to benefit from practical experience over their summer vacation and discover their talents. It is very important to increase and improve the pool of talent available both to Abu Dhabi Airports and to other organisations in the Emirate. Initiatives such as these play a tangible role in supporting the national identity and the future development of UAE nationals as leaders in the aviation sector."
