Abu Dhabi Airport disruptions
Flights to and from the airport were delayed or diverted for several hours.
The airline resumed flight departures when the runway reopened shortly after 6.00am.
A total of 21 flights were diverted to seven regional airports – 18 passenger aircraft and three freighters. Nineflights have now been able to reposition to Abu Dhabi, and several more are airborne.
Flights from Abu Dhabi have also recommenced with services departing to Munich, Paris, New York, Milan, Rome, Sydney and Manila.
The dense fog, which rolled in just after midnight, delayed the departure from Abu Dhabi of 44 early morning flights by up to four hours, while several others were cancelled.
Etihad Airways is working to minimise disruption to its customers. However, delays are anticipated for the rest of the day.
Passengers are advised to contact the Etihad Airways Contact Centre on +971 (0) 2599 0000 or visit the Etihad Airways website at www.etihad.com/flightstatus for more information on the status of flights in and out of Abu Dhabi Airport.
