Iraq has been the gateway for global trade from ages and the Iraqi government's efforts to regain the status got huge impetus with the recent announcement of Diwaniya Airport development and approval of projects for Airport in Karbala.

The Iraqi aviation has growth opportunities with plans to develop the cargo and civil aviation infrastructure to match global standards. In line with developments Babylon International FZE will be organising '5th Iraq Airports Show 2015 - Conference and Exhibition', hosted by Erbil International Airport, held on 18-19th of November 2015 at Divan Hotel in Erbil.

The Governor of Diwaniya province, Ammar al-Madani, declared to sign a contract to establish Diwaniya Airport at the cost of USD 700 million In another development Iraq has agreed to construct a large civilian airport in the central Karbala governorate, the Mid Euphrates International Airport to be build. At a cost of USD 4 billion & this will be funded by the province's Imam Hussein Holy Shrine Authority. Other airports like Erbil, Dohuk, and Sulaymaniyah are already on the growth track. New Airports are also planned in Mosul and Kirkuk

Human Capital
With development of airports in Karbala, one of the most important holy shrines and Nassiriya the skilled work force demand is high. Recently, the Governor Yehya al-Nasiri said that Nassiriya airport will need 1500 to 2000 workers for operations for domestic and ground service, which will be expanded to international flights. The new airports will need logistics, engineering, pilots and other aviation professionals.

Opportunities
During Q4, 2014 Iraqi Minister Baqir al-Zubaidi discussed with the Japanese Charge d'Affairs the participation of Japanese companies in Greater Fao Terminal, railway projects and rehabilitation of Baghdad airport. The last few years has transformed aviation into one of the fastest growing sector. Airports in Iraq like Erbil, Sulaimaniyah, Baghdad, Najaf and others have announced expansion plans.
